Built because mentorship deserves better tools.
Every senior engineer we know has the same plan template buried in a doc. The same shared folder of session notes. The same hand-rolled scheduling link. The same skill rubric copied from a blog post in 2019. We wanted one tool that took it all seriously.
The mentorship market is misshapen.
Discovery is solved — five platforms compete to match you to a mentor inside a week. But operationally? Mentors are still juggling four tools to run one engagement, and mentees rarely see the plan that's supposed to be guiding their growth.
We're building for the half of the problem nobody's serious about: what happens after the mentor and mentee shake hands.
What we'll keep saying yes and no to.
Mentor-first, not marketplace-first
Every product decision starts with the mentor. Marketplaces optimize discovery. We optimize the mentorship itself.
AI as a copilot, never an autopilot
Claude drafts. The mentor decides. We don't send anything to a mentee that the mentor hasn't reviewed.
Evidence over vibes
Skill assessments link to artifacts. Progress is measurable. Promotion conversations stop being subjective.
Boring tech, well used
A modular monolith we can split when we need to. MongoDB. Redis. Spring Boot. React. No frameworks we picked because of a hackathon.
Where we are right now.
Try it on a real mentorship.
That's the only honest test. Run one plan, one session, one assessment inside Tutela and decide.
